Join Carrie Sparks for an easy one-mile walk along the birding trail at the Settlers Museum of Southwest Virginia to discover over 30 common plants that can be used for food, tea, or medicine. Several “wild” food items and drinks will be prepared for you to sample. Bring a snack, drink, and perhaps a camera. Walk is limited to 15 participants. For the 20th year, “Haint Mistress” Donnamarie Emmert will lead nightly ghost tours of downtown Abingdon, beginning at 7:30 each night. The tours will begin at the Fairy Fountain across from Barter Theatre. Tours are approximately 2 hours long and will follow Main Street, where folks will hear history and the “ghostly goings-on” of historic Abingdon. Reservations are not necessary. In case of rain, the tours will not meet. The cost is $15.00 per person. Please wear comfortable shoes. The tours are not suggested for children under 10, strollers or any wheeled conveyances.
