Stargazing with the Owls

August 3 @ 8:45 pm - 10:30 pm
Bartlett-Crowe Field Station, 35000 Barrtree Lane
Glade Spring, VA 24340 United States
+ Google Map
Free

Event Date:
Friday, August 3, 2018 – 8:45 to 10:30pm

There is nothing more haunting and mystical than the call of an owl on a starry, moonlit evening. Come to Emory & Henry College’s Bartlett-Crowe Field Station for a brief talk on owl biology by Randy Smith, followed by calling and hopefully observing resident Eastern Screech Owls and Great-Horned Owls, and perhaps others. Owls inhabit our area in surprising numbers. The evening will conclude with a time of stargazing using telescopes to view several planets, constellations, and maybe even a passing satellite. Jayde Fleenor will oversee the telescopes. Dress appropriately for a cool evening and wet grass.
