Attend a hands-on Stream Discovery Workshop at White’s Mill as part of the Virginia Highlands Festival. Participants will discover how to catch and identify pollution-sensitive macroinvertebrates—tiny creatures such as stonefly, mayfly, water penny, and many others—living in stream beds. Cathy Landy, a certified trainer in the Virginia Save Our Streams monitoring method, leads the workshop which also features a pollution prevention game for kids and an educators’ session to learn teaching techniques about watersheds and pollution prevention.

Hosted by the Upper Tennessee River Roundtable, the workshop takes place at Toole’s Creek at Historic White’s Mill on White’s Mill Road.

Admission is free. Pre-registration is required. Register by calling 276-628-1600 by July 25. Rain date – Friday, Aug. 3. For more information, visit www.uppertnriver.org.
