The Farmer’s Market will be jumping on Thursday, August 2, with a family-friendly night of Bluegrass music. The fun begins on stage at 6:30PM with The Lonesome Pine Bluegrass Band, a local band out of East Tennessee. Tap your foot to a traditional instrumental such as “Foggy Mountain Breakdown” one minute, then sing along to a Kingston Trio Tune the next. At 8PM, making his return to The Virginia Highlands Festival for the second year in a row, is Carson Peters & Iron Mountain. Carson picked up the fiddle at the ripe old age of 3 when his parents bought him a 1/8 size fiddle. By age 4, he was playing in fiddle competitions and jamming at musical festivals. He continued to hone his fiddling and singing talents, performing numerous occasions on the Grand Ole Opry, the Ryman Auditorium, and national TV shows. Carson, along with a great band, Iron Mountain, entertains audiences with old-time, bluegrass, and gospel music.
Tickets are $5.00, children under 12 free. A limited number of chairs will be available, so be sure to bring your lawn chair. Food vendors available, open 30 minutes prior to show time.
