Festivals are mostly known for being places where artists can show off their latest wares. At the 70th Virginia Highlands Festival, even you can join in! The committee of Juried Arts and Crafts has the most people behind it, since the Juried Arts and Crafts Show is the most popular part of the Festival. Guests can browse and admire the vast array of artwork, while artists can sign up, set up their own booth, and not only get judged by the committee’s jury for the chance of prizes, but also sell their products to the consumers. Categories range from watercolors and oil paintings to pottery, jewelry, sewing, weaving, photography, and even wood carving and glass blowing! Sign up to have your work judged and displayed to the greater Abingdon community. If you would like to serve as a volunteer or juror, contact Nancy Harte via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or look for the online application at http://vahighlandsfestival.org/forms-applications/. Move quickly! Only 68 spaces are available! The Festival is always looking for new faces and talent, so if you think you have what it takes, send in your application and show Abingdon what you’ve got!
‘The Festival was an important part of my life living here in Abingdon; my kids all grew up working during the Festival, and … I think implementing these changes will help make it even better.’ — Nancy Harte
