Arts and Crafts Demonstrations

Demonstrations are offered daily. Featured are potters, basket weavers, stained glass artists, sculptors, painters, jewelry makers, and more. The juried arts and crafts show attracts hundreds of artists and their exceptional works from Maine to Florida.

Cave House Craft Shop basket makers Brenda McCall, Marty Dunn, Lenna McCall & Jane Brinkman, better known as the Basket Cases, will be demonstrating basket weaving and teaching both traditional & modern basket weaving techniques. Please join them on the lawn of the Cave House in Abingdon, Friday and Saturday, August 1-2, from 10 AM to 4 PM, during the Virginia Highlands Festival.

During the Virginia Highlands Festival members of the Holston Mountain Arts & Crafts Cooperative will demonstrate their talents at the monthly "Meet the Artisans" event at at The Cave House Craft Shop in Abingdon, Va.

On August 2, beginning at 10 AM, you will find two quilters, Sondra Blevins and daughter Audra Rasnake; needlepoint artist Anne Armentrout; and Phil Homes, a potter and raku artist. Sondra will be demonstrating paper-pieced quilting techniques; Audra specializes in traditional hand quilting and appliqué. Anne uses quilt block patterns in her needlepoint samplers. Phil will use fire to create raku pottery.
